About Banaras Ganga Aarti

Learn about Banaras Ganga Aarti, our mission to bring the sacred Ganga Aarti experience to devotees worldwide, and our commitment to authenticity and spiritual connection.

The Sacred Birth of Mother Ganga

According to the Vamana Purana, when Lord Vishnu took the form of Vamana and raised his foot towards the sky, Lord Brahma washed Vishnu's feet and collected the sacred water in his kamandal. From the radiance of this water, Goddess Ganga was born in Brahma's kamandal. Brahma entrusted Ganga to the Himalayas, making her the sister of Goddess Parvati.

Another legend tells that the pressure from Vamana's foot created a hole in the sky, releasing three streams - one to earth, one to heaven, and one to the underworld - thus Ganga became known as Tripatha (three paths).

The Puranas contain many tales of Goddess Ganga's birth and her descent from heaven to earth. These stories not only reveal the mystery of her divine presence but also showcase her importance and the love she embodies. The eternal flow of Ganga not only purifies body and mind but also spreads the essence of divine love.
